Ageless Art at the Hart, Middle School Teens for Jeans, Raise a 'Guiding Eyes' Dog
Here are five things you need to know today, Jan. 6.
1. Middle School Teens for Jeans
Cleaning out your closet? The Rachel's Challenge Club are collecting gently used jeans for the Teen for Jeans Drive sponsored by Aeropostale Clothing. 1 in 3 homeless are teens under the age of 18. There are collection bins in all three guidance offices at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School, the drive runs through Feb 10.
2. Raise a Guiding Eyes for the Blind Dog
Guiding Eyes for the Blind become puppy raisers in the Westchester region. Volunteers would welcome 8-week-old puppies into their homes and with full support from the nonprofit, and educate the puppies for a 14 to 16 month period before sending them off to their calling as a guide dog for a blind or visually impaired person.
Puppy raising classes are held on Wednesday evenings at locations alternating between the Bedford Hills Community Center and the Guiding Eyes training school in Yorktown Heights. Orientation classes, designed to prepare you for raising a puppy to become someone’s Guiding Eyes, are on Feb. 28, March 6 and March 20 from 6p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Canine Development Center in Patterson. People are required to attend all three classes. RSVP required.
