Monday, Nov. 1
From voting, to candy buy back, BOE meeting and PTA meetings- five things you needed to know. Democratic Congressman and former music artist John Hall faced a tough re-election campaign against the Republican candidate, retired Mount Kisco ophthalmologist Nan Hayworth. They talked to Patch about their views on major issues. Families ventured to the streets of Yorktown for the annual Halloween Parade and festivities. The Yorktown football team lost to New Rochelle as one of three huge plays accounted for all of New Rochelle's points in a 21-16 Section AA Semifinal victory over Yorktown. Supervisor Susan Siegel released her tentative 2011 budget.
Tuesday, Nov. 2
It was Election Day- read about what the voters said during the heavy turnout at the polls. Supervisor Susan Siegel had issued her tentative budget and in it she proposed a 3.65 percent increase in the tax rate and cuts in services. The Yorktown volleyball team beat Ossining 3-1 to earn trip to face No. 1 Harrison. The Clarkstown girls soccer team took the 4-0 victory over Yorktown at Orlando Field in Class AA quarterfinals. We told you about the Met's "Boris Godunov " opera, an encore performance will take place Nov. 10 at both the White Plains City Center 15 Cinema De Lux and the New Rochelle Regal Nov. 18.
Wednesday, Nov. 3
Most Hudson Valley voters weighed in yesterday on local races—and all are helping decide races of regional and national impact. We had a a look at the key races. Steve Katz claimed the victory in the 99th State Assembly District seat race. Hayworth beat Hall and took the 19th Congressional District. Ball claimed victory in the New York State Senate 40th District race. From a holiday cooking workshop to, "Organizing the Disorganized Child" presentation, to a film festival and meetings- five things you needed to know. Lakeland's dynamic duo of Scavelli and Bozek combined for six goals and an assist in the sectional quarterfinal against the Harrison field hockey team. Harry Wilson, the GOP nominee for comptroller, held a significant lead early on, but conceded this morning after incumbent Tom DiNapoli dominated in New York City for the Comptroller race. Several voting machines in Yorktown did not print out receipts last night and numbers weren't coming in; statewide machines were impounded and the order was lifted in 3 p.m. Congresswoman-elect Hayworth outlined what she intended to do. Cable advisory board argued with town board about their negotiations with Cablevision contract. The Lakeland boys soccer team beats Harrison 2-1 in Sectionals.
Thursday, Nov. 4
From public hearings at town board meeting, to Westchester green business discussion, talk about retirement and the "baby boomer's biggest challenge," BOE meeting, and field hockey sectionals- five things you needed to know. Guiding Eyes for the Blind will hold a test, "Canine Good Citizen" on Nov. 13 for all interested dog owners. Local emergency responders explain the new guidelines for CPR- chest compression is now top priority. Lakeland's Caffrey was named League Most Valued Player- the senior captain caps off exceptional regular season, coaches speak call him an incredible force on the field. A former Yorktown resident, now homeless, was charged with stealing jewelry from roommates.
Friday, Nov. 5

The Lakeland girls field hockey team defeated the Putnam Valley team- Scavelli's hat trick led Lakeland to the sectional semifinal win. Saturday, Nov. 6

Yorktown football defeated the Clarkstown North team as the game marked the end of an exciting 2010 football season. Sunday, Nov. 7
The Somers soccer team beat Yorktown in the Section 1 Class A semifinal. Election officials have said that voting machines should be changed- Paper jams, lack of privacy, mass confusion- many were unhappy with the process on Election Day. Businesses and property owners who create energy-sustainable or "green" buildings could generate not only some good public relations, but up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual savings.
