Karli Wheeler, Clerk of Amawalk Meeting (Quakers) and Media Manager, Yorktown School District

I second the nomination of Karli Wheeler -- she is actively involved in the community and holds a leadership position at the Amawalk Friends Meeting, a National Historic Site which Karli makes available to community members who ask to use it, such as the Amawalk Cemetery Board and the Field Family Reunion. She is an excellent and compassionate communicator in her professional roles.

I agree - Karli Wheeler is a light in our community. She is fair minded, thoughtful and caring!

Ms. Rothe is the most dedicated, sincere, hard working director of agency-SPARC, as many who attend her programs, classes, etc. for young and old 'special' activities can attest to!

Kathy Quinn had been at the helm of Support Connection since its inception 15 years ago which is key to the organization's success. She is an incredible leader and her work has had a positive impact on countless women affected by breast and ovarian cancer. She is also a tireless volunteer and has lent her time and talents to many other causes in the Yorktown area.

I am delighted to add my support to Kathy Quinn's nomination as Yorltown's Woman of Distinction. Her tireless efforts in leading the Yorktown based Support Connection have helped women and families in this area and elsewhere devastated by breast and ovarian cancer.

The town has not yet made a nomination. (Nominations are due by Feb. 1).

Rose Rothe is indeed a Yorktown Woman of Distinction. As Founder and Executive Director of SPARC Therapeutic Recreation Programs for special needs individuals in the Yorktown area for more than 20 years, Rose continues to raise the bar in the provision of sensitive, meaningful, quality human service programs through her positive and creative approach to the needs of her clients and staff.

It is an honor to be nominated with so many women I admire. We all have left our mark on this community for the good. It is with the help of other people of distinction that the Teen Center continues, not just me. I share this nomination with the board and volunteers (men and women) that supervise a safe and fun place for the youth of Yorktown.

Thank you whomever nominated me for this honor. I was truly surprised when I clicked the link open to vote for someone else (which I did) and saw my name on the list, lol. It is truly and honor and I am fortunate to be supported by many friends and family in keeping my brother Vincent's memory alive with the Special Olympics Miles for Medal Walk and food and coat drives in his honor. Paula gets my vote! She never passes up an opportunity to help others. Her work for multiple charities speaks for itself, not to mention the many families in need she has personally rallied for! A true humanitarian.

Paula truly embodies all that is good and noble. She is a woman who puts aside her own struggles to help those who are in dire need. All who know her are better off for it. She leads by an example we all should follow.

Yorktown supervisor Michael Grace said town board members have decided to nominate Kathy Quinn, executive director of Support Connection, for Sen. Greg Ball's "Women of Distinction" award. The decision was made during their Tuesday work session and Grace said the choice was quite difficult because there were so many good candidates.

I am very grateful and honored to receive Yorktown's Woman of Distinction Nomination. Yorktown is a great place to live, work and volunteer. Let's continue working together for all the important causes that need our attention. It is a great chance to make each day count!
