Snooki Mania!

Reality TV star visits White Plains to sign books.

MTV's "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi made a visit to White Plains to autograph copies of her book, Gorilla Beach, at the Barnes & Noble Booksellers City Center on Saturday afternoon. Hundreds of fans stood in line outside the store on Main Street as the pregnant celebrity signed books, posed for photos and made personal video clips with them inside.

Astorino Welcomes Beach Boys Day to Westchester

The Beach Boys played the Westchester County Center on Tuesday.

County Executive Rob Astorino has declared May 15, 2012 as “Beach Boys Day” in Westchester and honored the legendary band from sunny California with a proclamation Tuesday afternoon just before their evening show at the Westchester County Center. “My parents, when I tell them about my job and who I meet, no excitement—but when I told them The Beach Boys and all of a sudden they are jumping down—‘Can we come? Can we come?'” said Astorino. The Beach Boys and the Westchester County Parks system are both celebrating their 50th anniversaries. The Beach Boys are currently on tour and will be releasing their newest album “That’s Why God Made the Radio,” in June. Daisy Jopling and Community Return to the Paramount

Jopling will perform with dozens of students and local musicians on Peekskill’s biggest stage to benefit local music programs.

Daisy Jopling has been schooling audiences around the world on the range and possibilities of a violin for years. Since she moved to Peekskill a few years ago she has been thrilling audiences with her violin at all kinds of events, from school assembly’s to festivals to the Paramount Center for the Arts. On May 19 she will return to the Paramount to perform music from her new album, a collection of high-energy classical music fused with world music and rock, with her band. Last year, she brought the Paramount crowd to their feet when they gave her a full-house standing ovation. Human Beat Box Prepares Garden Road Students for Street Games

Garden Road School students learned from human beat box Michael Feigenbaum and will perform at the Street Games event Saturday.

Human beat box Michael Feigenbaum will be performing and teaching participants about body percussion and beatboxing at the Second Annual Street Games Saturday, May 12 at the Garden Road School. Feigenbaum has spent hours with Garden Roads students this week, teaching them about his art and preparing them for their special performance.  Watch the video to learn about what beatboxing teaches children and for a sneak peak of the show! Mildred E. Strang Middle School students will perform "The Music Man Jr.," a feel-good comedic musical based on the original Broadway American classic. The play takes place during the early days of the 20th century, when con man Harold Hill arrives at staid River City, Iowa intending to cheat the community out of their money. Jazz Competition Coming To Westchester

The first annual Vocal Jazz Competition is being held May 5.

Jazz Forum Arts (JFA), the top presenter of jazz artists in Westchester County, is holding its First Annual Vocal Jazz Competition this May. The event is set for Saturday, May 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Nepperhan Community Center in Yonkers. Family loyalties and secrets will come alive during the Axial Theatre's spring production of The Clearing, which premieres with a preview performance at Pleasantville's St. John's Episcopal Church at 8 p.m. today.
