The library is located in Shrub Oak and in addition to providing reading material, it serves as a community-gathering place for children and adults.

The children's room offers 450 programs annually, including story times for babies, chess club, craft workshops, animal programs and volunteer opportunities for older children.
The youth center is a place where young adults can chose age-appropriate books and participate in programs, such as drawing workshops, writing poetry, short stories and essays, as well as taking SAT reviews and informative workshops.
Adult programs include a book-discussion group, arts and crafts nights, computer instruction and mind and body classes.
