Yorktown High School has a reputation for strong academic and athletic programs.
It is recognized by the New York State Board of Regents and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary School.
To best support students' academic programs, the school offers a Learning Center, Social Studies Skills, Math Lab, Writing Lab, and Resource Room. Other programs include the Alternative School and Northern Westchester BOCES Technical Center.
A YHS brochure states:
"Our High School community believes strongly that the primary focus of our school is to help students recognize and achieve their goals. We are committed to an educational program that promotes the intellectual, personal, and social growth of all students. Our curriculum is designed to meet the individual and varied needs of our students. We offer students a rigorous college preparatory program plus strong programs in Special Education, Business, and Occupational Therapy."
Principal of the school is Joseph DeGennaro.
Assistant Prinicpals are Dr. Randall Glading and Lori Roberts.
The Coordinator of Guidance Services is Kay Buckley.
The Athletic Director is Fio Nardone.
Athletics is a significant part of YHS. More than 70 percent of the high school students participate on one or more teams during the course of the school year.
