Unusual Suspects: Bloody TV; Metal Stolen, Sold; Mom Arrested at Daughter's Birthday Party

Recent weird and unusual crime in the Hudson Valley. Reports do not indicate convictions.

Bloody TV A person walking the path of the Greenrock property, the organization that maintains the Rockefeller Estate, on Sleepy Hollow Road spotted something unusual -- a TV with blood on it. The TV was placed on Rockefeller land under a corner of a bridge by the footpath, said Sleepy Hollow police; the placement raised suspicion. The item is being investigated and the blood is at a lab.  Woman Arrested at Daughter's Birthday Party Harrison police arrested a woman who was celebrating her daughter's birthday after responding to a domestic dispute call. Woman Accused of Stealing Three Purses from Macy's

The following information was provided by the Yorktown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 42-year-old Yonkers woman is accused of stealing three purses from a department store in Yorktown, police said.  Madeline Lucre was arrested on May 16 at about 7 p.m. when police responded to Macy's after security personnel reported a shoplifter in custody. The defendant was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.  Investigation revealed Lucre allegedly exited the store without paying for three purses valued at $774.  The woman was released on $1,500 bail and was scheduled to appear in court on May 22. 

Yorktown Man Charged with Drunk Driving in Somers

The following information was provided by the New York State Police. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 53-year-old Yorktown man is accused of driving while intoxicated, state police said.  Raul Ubeda was stopped by police on May 16 at about 2:41 a.m. in the town of Somers for an equipment violation. Subsequent to the Vehicle and Traffic Law stop, he was arrested for allegedly driving drunk.  Ubeda refused to submit to a chemical test, police said. He was scheduled to appear in the town of Somers Court on June 4.

Police: Man Charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Credit Card

The following information was provided by the Yorktown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 24-year-old Yonkers man, who was arrested when police responded to a call that a suspicious man was attempting to enter parked vehicles, faces an additional charge of being in possession of a stolen credit card.   Nadeem H. Abualteen was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, on May 15 when he voluntarily appeared at police headquarters at about 6:45 p.m.  The arrest stems from a Jan. 12, 2012, incident when police responded to the Staples Plaza on a suspicious person call. Investigation revealed Abualteen was allegedly in possession of a stolen driver’s license and stolen credit card. At that time, he was remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $5,000 bail.  However, further investigation …

Updated: Mary Kennedy Died of Asphyxiation by Hanging, Examiner Says

Kennedy died of an apparent suicide.

Updated, Noon, Thursday The Westchester County Medical Examiner's office released a statement Thursday afternoon saying Mary Kennedy's cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging. Updated, 9 a.m. Thursday The New York Times is reporting that Kennedy's body was found hanging in a barn behind their home and that authorities who responded to the scene had attempted to cut her down and revive her. Kennedy apparently left a note. Authorities have not released a cause of death and an autopsy is scheduled for this morning. First story: Mary Kennedy, the 52-year-old estranged wife of Robert F. Yorktown Needs Volunteers for 'Community Emergency Response Team'

Yorktown is looking for volunteers to join a new program that would train them in basic response skills and empower them to supplement current emergency responders in case of a disaster. "There are all these members of our community who when we have large scale disasters want to do something to help," Public Safety Officer Larry Eidelman for the Yorktown Police Department said. "They feel like they would like to be a part of the solution and they just don't know what to do.'' The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program will educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact the area and train them in fire safety, sheltering operations, team organization and disaster medical operations. 'Click it or Ticket': Yorktown Police Encourage Teen Drivers to Wear Seat Belts

Yorktown Police Chief encourages parents to speak with their children about the importance of wearing seat-belts.

The Yorktown Police Department will participate in the 2012 spring national "Click it or Ticket" seat-belt enforcement program, which will run from May 21 through June 3.  Police chief Daniel McMahon said the national average for seat-belt use among adult drivers is 90 percent, while only 46 percent of the teenagers use a seat belt. The teen (age 16-19) fatality rate is four times higher than ages 25-69 according to the most current study, he said in a statement. Boys are more likely not to wear a seat-belt than girls. McMahon reminds motorist that regular seat belt use is the "single most effective way to protect people, minimize the severity of injuries and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle accidents." State Police: Shrub Oak Man Arrested for Driving Drunk

The New York State Police made multiple DWI arrests during a roving DWI sobriety enforcement details, concentrated on Route 6 in Cortlandt and on the Sprain Brook Parkway on May 11 and 12. During the detail, police arrested a total of six drunk drivers, including a 20-year-old Shrub Oak man.  Matthew Molina-Lebron was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated. He was processed at SP Somers without incident and issued traffic tickets returnable to the Somers court on May 16. The following traffic tickets were issued as a result of the detail: 6-DWI 12-Radar 38-Other Vehicle and Traffic Tickets
